A new affordable housing complex will soon be available for occupancy at 11016 Romona Boulevard in El Monte. The project proposal includes the construction of 50 apartments available as affordable housing units.
Domus Development is the project developer. Newport Partners is responsible for the designs.
Named The Metro Point apartments, the project will be a four-story building that will feature 50 affordable housing units. The apartments are designed as a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans. The project will also offer parking for 80 vehicles.
The apartments will be reserved for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area’s median income level. Also, half of the units will be reserved for unhoused individuals and families; with a condition that at least one person is living with a severe mental illness.
Funding for the project includes $15 million on bond proceeds approved by Los Angeles County, as well as $5.5 million in No Place Like Home Funds, a $1.1-million Infill Infrastructure Grant, and $5.7-million in state Multifamily Housing Program funds.
The project site is located at the intersection of Ramona Boulevard and Tyler Avenue.
