A 158-home residential development has been approved for the former Frontier property at 2819 182nd Street in Redondo Beach. The six-acre site is planned with 131 townhomes and 27 affordable housing units distributed among a collection of three-story buildings.
Plans organize the development around a network of private internal driveways. The arrangement divides the property into multiple residential clusters rather than placing the full program within a single building. The approval was processed administratively after the site was designated for residential development through the city’s Housing Element.
A project rendering depicts attached buildings with alternating rooflines and varied exterior finishes. Brown horizontal siding appears across several projecting volumes, while white vertical panels and gray wall sections distinguish adjoining portions of the façades. Dark cladding wraps much of the ground level, creating a consistent base beneath the upper residential floors. Rectangular windows with dark frames are repeated across the elevations, while fencing and planted areas define the edges of the property.
The site previously contained a Frontier facility and was acquired by NantWorks in 2019, according to the supplied project information. Its redevelopment would introduce housing to a property located near the South Bay Galleria and next to the Redondo Beach Transit Center along Kingsdale Avenue.
The approval adds another residential proposal to the area surrounding the Galleria, where other housing and commercial projects have also advanced. A construction schedule for the development at 2819 182nd Street has not been announced.
