The Los Angeles Planning Commission signed off on a new housing project at 1818 North Cherokee Avenue in Hollywood. The project proposal includes the construction of a new multifamily residential development featuring apartments and on-site parking.

Real estate investment firm CGI Strategies is the project developer. AC Martin is managing the design concepts and construction.

The project will replace a surface parking lot. The seven-story residential development will feature 86 apartments offered as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units. A two-level parking garage with a capacity of 61 vehicles is proposed at the basement level. On-site amenities are inclusive of a gym, a clubhouse, and a rooftop pool deck.

The podium-style building showcases a contemporary design with five levels of wood-frame construction above a concrete base.

Project entitlements include a density bonus to allow a larger building than allowed by zoning laws. In return, the developer will set aside 21 apartments as deed-restricted affordable housing at the very low-income level. The Commission moved to adopt a sustainable communities project exemption (SCPE) for a proposed apartment complex.

The project site is located two blocks north of the Walk of Fame near Hollywood and Westlake.
