New affordable housing will soon be on the market in North Hollywood at 6329 Clybourn Street. The project proposal includes the construction of multi-family apartments reserved for low-income households.
Non-profits Abbey Road and Linc Housing are the project developers. KFA Architects is managing the design concepts and construction.
Named Sun Commons affordable housing, it will bring 103 apartments in a four-story structure. The residences will be a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. Two market-rate manager’s units and half of the apartments will be reserved for formerly homeless persons. The remaining dwellings will be offered to households earning between 30 to 60 percent of the area’s median income.
Renderings reveal a contemporary low-rise building designed with a V-shaped footprint. On-site amenities include two community rooms, rooftop decks, a children’s play area, and a community garden. Case management and supportive services will also be available on the site, provided by Abbey Road’s sister organization, Penny Lane.
The project is funded through Measure HHH and Los Angeles County sources and is estimated at $60 million.
The construction is on pace for completion in 2022.
