Construction has finally begun for a large apartment complex proposed at 800 South Western Avenue in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The proposed project includes the development of a mixed-use project offering residential and retail spaces. Plans call for the preservation of a parking garage built in the 1930s.
Jamison Services is the project developer. KTGY Architecture + Planning is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
The project will rise from an L-shaped site. The existing building, known as the Pellissier Square Garage, is being rehabilitated for use as parking, retail, and amenities for residents of the apartments. A new eight-story residential building will be added, featuring 230 studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Retail space spanning an area of 13,300 square feet will be designed on the ground floor. A parking facility with a capacity of 176 vehicles will be constructed on the site.
Construction of the new development is expected to occur over a roughly two-year period. The property site is located at the southeast corner of 8th Street & Western Avenue.
