Los Angeles County issued $18.7 million for a supportive housing development proposed at 1000 East Walnut Street in Pasadena. The project proposal includes the construction of a four-story building offering residential and office space along with onsite parking. Plans call for the demolition of a small office building on the site.
Culver City-based architecture firm Carde Ten is managing the design concepts and construction.
The tax-exempt financing will go toward the Salvation Army’s Pasadena Hope Center. The project proposes the construction of 65 single-room apartments and one two-bedroom manager’s unit. Office space spanning an area of 2,600 square feet will be designed on the ground floor, catering to service providers. A parking lot with a capacity of 15 vehicles will be constructed on the site.
Renderings reveal a mix of Art Deco architecture with contemporary design. Architectural plans showcase a low-rise building in white stucco. Onsite amenities for residents include a yoga room, a courtyard, a library, and multiple outdoor decks.
The proposed four-story development will be built at the intersection of Walnut Street and Catalina Avenue. Cost of the proposed development at roughly $32 million.
