A new residential project is under construction taking shape and form at 5601 West Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a large-scale residential project. The project site was previously home to a shuttered Sears department store.
Bardas Investment Group and Bain Capital Real Estate are the project developers. Los Angeles-based architecture firm Rios is designing the project. House & Robertson is also part of the project design team.
Named Echelon Studios, the scope of work includes the development of large-scale project comprising multiple buildings offering:
- 110,000 square feet of production studios and support space
- 388,000 square feet of offices
- 12,300 square feet of ground-floor restaurant space
- Parking for 981 vehicles in two subterranean levels
Renderings reveal facades rising 93 feet in height along Santa Monica Boulevard, while shorter buildings would face Virginia Avenue to the north. The project will showcase a contemporary style with textured plaster cement board siding, perforated metal screens, and glass. Echelon Studios also features ground level retail that engages the public along the street.
The project site is located west of the US-101 freeway, spanning full block. Construction work began earlier in 2024 and is expected to wrap up by 2027.
