A new mixed-use project has broken ground at 5035 Coliseum Street in South Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a new six-story mixed-use project offering spaces for residential and retail uses. The development is rising at the former site of View Park Community Hospital.
AO is designing the project.
Named Thrive Living, the mixed-use will being a Costco store and residential units in to a six-story complex. Above a Costco store, 800 apartment will soon take shape and form. Costco will offer produce, optical services, a pharmacy, and delivery services.
Thrive Living will also offer 184 apartments as low-income affordable housing, making the project eligible for development incentives that permit greater density and floor area than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. Additionally, the remaining market-rate units are to be made available to renters with Section 8 vouchers, including families and seniors in the surrounding community.
Rendering reveal that the units will be prefabricated modular units and include a multi-level basement parking garage. Onsite indoor and outdoor amenity spaces will be provided, along with outdoor spaces for movie nights and community gardens.
The project site is located less than a half-mile south of Metro’s Expo/La Brea Station, which is served by the E Line.
