A completed five-story residential building now occupies a full block of West Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles, marking the delivery of a purpose-built senior housing project organized around shared indoor and outdoor spaces. The development, known as Serenity, is fully constructed and operating as affordable housing for older residents.

John Stanley Inc is listed as the developer. BSB Design is responsible for the designs.

The building contains 50 studio and one-bedroom apartments reserved for very low-income seniors. Residential floors are organized above a ground level that incorporates both building services and approximately 1,700 square feet of commercial space. Balconies are distributed across the upper levels, giving the façade a regular rhythm along Manchester Avenue while providing private outdoor access for select units.

Common areas are a defining element of the completed project. A third-floor courtyard serves as a central outdoor gathering space, complemented by additional seating and landscaped areas visible from surrounding residential corridors. Interior amenity spaces include a gym and shared rooms designed for daily use, arranged to receive natural light through large windows and direct connections to exterior terraces.

The finished building is characterized by a restrained palette of light and dark exterior finishes. The massing steps subtly across the site, breaking down the scale of the five-story structure while maintaining a consistent street-facing edge along Manchester Avenue.
