A new affordable housing community known as The 101 is under construction at 101 East Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. Jamboree Housing Corporation is developing the project near Metro’s Pacific Coast Highway Station, with Y&M Architects responsible for the design.
The development will provide 52 apartments in a five-story building. The residential mix includes one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, all reserved for households earning up to 30 percent of the area median income. The project is planned as permanent supportive housing with services available on site.
The building program includes 20 vehicle parking spaces and resident-serving interior and outdoor areas. Planned community spaces include areas for resident gathering, staff operations, and outdoor use. The site’s location places the project near rail and bus service along the Pacific Coast Highway corridor.
The rendering shows a contemporary mid-rise building with a prominent corner volume, gray and cream exterior panels, orange accent elements, and rows of private balconies. At the ground level, the building is shown with large windows, landscaped edges, and a clearly marked residential entry at the corner.
The project represents a more than $40-million investment in affordable housing. A completion date has not been announced.
