A new residential project will soon replace a commercial building at 9011 South Main Street in Broadway-Manchester, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of 44 apartments, replacing an existing commercial structure and surface parking.
East End Properties is the project applicant. Ken Stockton Architects is responsible for the design concepts.
The proposed project will rise from an approximately quarter-acre property. Plans call the construction of a new five-story edifice featuring 44 apartments. The residences will be offered as a mix of studios and one-bedroom apartments above at-grade parking for 20 cars and 39 bicycles.
The project applicant is seeking approval of Transit Oriented Communities development incentives to permit increased height, density, and floor area beyond limits imposed by the property’s zoning. In exchange, four of the new apartments would be set aside as affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.
Renderings reveal a contemporary podium-type apartment complex, clad in painted stucco and teak panels.
The project site sits less than a half-mile southeast of the intersection of 88th Street and Broadway, where a 122-unit affordable housing complex is planned for a long-vacant site.
