The exterior of The Kurve on Wilshire, at 2801 West Sunset Place, is nearly finished. The project is being developed by Hankey Investment Company, which has a 35 year track record in Southern California. The $300M, mixed-use, highrise development will feature luxury rental apartments and retail in the 2900 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown.

The design for the plot includes a 23 story, curved, “L” shaped residential highrise, with a seven-story, wrap building, containing ground commercial retail and residential units above. The maximum dimensions for the project are 264.33 feet tall, 429.05 feet long, 290 feet wide. It will contain 1,140,406 square feet of floor space, 15,550 of which will be retail.

The inside will contain 644 studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and penthouse units ranging from 600 to 4,000 square feet in size. There will also be 242 compact, 22 disabled, 676 standard parking stalls, as well as 651 long-term and 72 short-term bicycle parking spaces. A spin studio, lounge, bar, entertaining kitchen, private dining area, and a coworking space with a private Zoom room will also be inside.

Large Architecture designed the highrise to mimic an Alvar Aalto vase, the curved form decreases the visual bulk of the building. The exterior is made of amber glass and three kinds of spandrel panels. The outside will also feature an open-air movie theater, and a one-acre rooftop park and pool/spa area with private cabanas. Residents are expected to start moving in by the end of the year.
