New funding has been approved for an affordable housing project proposed for development at 3590 Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. The project proposal includes the construction of a five-story building offering residential units at affordable rates. The project is under construction.
Excelerate Housing Group is the project developer. Michael Maltzan Architecture is responsible for the designs.
Named 26 Point 2, the housing complex will soon reach five stories high on the site. The building will feature a total of 77 apartments, including 76 low-income units and one market-rate manager’s unit. The building will yield a total built-up area of 50,000 square feet. Renderings reveal wood framing atop a concrete base. Besides housing, plans call for a conference room, interview rooms, staff rooms, and offices for onsite supportive services at street level, as well as amenities such as a kitchen, a lounge, a patio, and a rooftop deck. Parking for 18 vehicles will be offered at the ground level.
Last week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors allocated $1 million in supplemental funding for the affordable housing project. Terms of the supplemental funding from the County, which adds to $5 million already allocated toward the project, requires that the apartments cater to households earning no more than 30 percent of the area median income level. The housing complex is located near the Traffic Circle in Long Beach.
