A new residential project has been proposed for development at 4501 Orange Avenue in Long Beach. The project proposal includes the construction of new townhomes spread across six new building. Plans call for the demolition of two existing commercial buildings on the site.
Property records list the owner of the site as the Palos Verdes Estates-based entity 4501 Orange, LP. Summa Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The project site is a corner lot that is currently housed with two commercial buildings, a surface parking lot, and leased open space. The site is all set to be redeveloped with housing, according to an initial study published by the City of Long Beach. The project will bring six new buildings containing 32 townhomes with attached garages. Plans call for three-bedroom dwellings, each with two parking spaces at street level.
Renderings showcase six contemporary buildings, all rising three stories in height. In addition to housing, plans call for new landscaping, eight guest parking spots, a children’s play area, a common fireplace, and other amenities.
The project site is located at the intersection of Orange Avenue and San Antonio Drive in Bixby Knolls. Construction of the townhomes will require approval of a zone change by the City of Long Beach. The estimated timeline has not been established yet.
