Construction has started on a mixed-use apartment building with some low-income housing at 6933 West Santa Monica Boulevard, in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Onni Contracting, a Canadian company with projects across North America, is the developer behind the project. They have titled it “MR2 Lofts.” The site used to be 15,000 square feet of commercial space, with a single-level building and automotive storage.

Plans call for a seven-story, mixed-use building. Five stories will be residential, and two stories will be mixed-use levels, including up to 5,000-square feet of high-turnover restaurant and up to 10,000 square feet of available retail space. There will also be two basement levels. The building will be 80.3 feet tall, 284 feet long, and 272.75 feet wide, with 218,316 square feet of floor space in total. 231 housing units will be inside, 15 of which will be affordable housing for very low-income households.

126 compact, 9 disabled, and 207 standard parking stalls will be in the building and 168 long-term, 14 short-term bicycle parking spaces. A bus stop is also on the corner of the location.

Roschen Van Cleve and RC Architecture have designed the building to be a mixture of stucco, glass, and concrete, with a tapered design. Amenities include a courtyard, swimming pool, and an open-air deck. The development is scheduled for completion in 2021. The permit valuation for the construction job is roughly $32.4 million, though total development costs are often more than double the permit value.
