A new affordable housing project is making progress at 4161-4169 Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a three-story structure with residences and retail space.
Local developer Meta Housing Corp will construct the new affordable housing named La Paz Apartments. Gonzalez Goodale Architects is managing the design concepts and construction.
The three-story structure will house forty-two units and a retail space spanning 1,161 square feet on the ground floor. The residences are offered as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units priced for households earning 35 percent or less than the area’s median income.
The architecture style of the low-rise structure a contemporary facade expressed in corrugated metal panels.
The $23.8-million project broke ground in mid-2020.
The property site is located at the northwest corner of Whittier Boulevard and Downey Avenue, and the apartments would sit one block east of another affordable housing project under construction.
