A residential project is under construction at 923 South Kenmore Avenue in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of an affordable housing project which replaced three duplexes.

Domus Development is the project developer. FSY Architects is responsible for the design concepts and construction.

Named Serenity Apartments, the project will bring 75 dwelling units designed in a six-story building. The units will be offered as a mix of studios and one-bedroom apartments, catering to unhoused seniors aged 62 and above. A parking garage with a capacity of nine cars will be designed at street level. The complex will feature a two-bedroom manager’s unit.

Renderings reveal a contemporary podium-style building with a U-shaped footprint wrapped around a central courtyard. The project was entitled using Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting greater density and floor area than allowed by local zoning rules.

The estimated cost of construction is $47.5-million. Serenity Apartments will be reserved for households earning no more than 30% of the area’s median income.
