A new affordable housing project is taking shape and form at 5001 South Broadway in South Park, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a new seven-story building offering spaces for residential units at affordable rates and commercial space. The project would replace commercial buildings on the site.
Los Angeles-based firm specializing in affordable housing, Eleos, is the project developer.
The developer is seeking approvals through Executive Directive 1. Plans call for the construction of a new seven-story building, featuring 187 apartments above ground-floor commercial space. The apartments are designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. All apartments will be restricted to moderate- and low-income households, with the exception of one manager’s unit.
Architectural plans indicate 23 parking spaces at-grade and a rooftop amenity deck for residents. The building carries a contemporary low-rise design. An application was submitted in October to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet. The project site is located just east of the 110 Freeway.
