Open Now: 5050 North Bakman Avenue in North Hollywood, Los Angeles

A new residential apartment community is now open at 5050 North Bakman Avenue in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal included the development of affordable and market-rate dwelling units in a five-story building. The project replaced two duplexes on the site.

Decro Corp. and Daylight Community Development teamed up to develop the project FSY Architects is responsible for the designs.

Marketed as NoHo5050 for its location, the apartment community is a five-story apartment building offering 40 units; 7 affordable family units and 32 supportive housing units for unhoused households referred by Downtown Women’s Center along with LACDA and LAHD. The units are designed as a mix of 4 studios, 28 one-bedroom, and 7 two-bedroom floor plans. Additionally, one manager’s unit is also designed. All the units are reserved for households earning at or below 50 and 60 percent of the area’s median income.

Construction technique for the five-story implements Type V-A construction for four stories over one story of Type I construction at grade.

Onsite services include a laundry room, learning center, community room, bicycle parking, support services spaces, and landscaped open space at the ground and roof levels. Supportive services will be provided by Downtown Women’s Center.

In 2021, Los Angeles City Council approved up to $11.25 million in tax-exempt bonds for the project to be constructed. NOHO 5050 announced a Fall 2023 opening. A lottery was held for the seven affordable housing units in March 2023.
