A pair of affordable housing developments are now taking shape and form in Westlake. The smaller of the two buildings, rising at 1438 Miramar Street, will be a seven-story building upon completion. Named Miramar Gold, the building will feature 94 rental apartments reserved for low-income and formerly unhoused residents.

Floor plans feature two wings connected by pedestrian bridges. Renderings reveal a contemporary facade accentuated by varying geometric forms.

The second project, rising at 1435 West 3rd Street, will be an eight-story building upon completion. Named Third Thyme, the scope of work includes the construction of 104 one-bedroom senior apartments, including 47 units for formerly homeless residents and two units for on-site managers. The remaining apartments would be set aside for renters earning  between 50 and 60 percent of the area’s median income level.

Both are located on a parcel previously slated for redevelopment with a market-rate apartment complex. The estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet.
