A new affordable housing project is under construction taking shape and form at 800 West 85th Street in South Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a new four-story residential building offering affordable units.
Domus Development is the project developer. KFA Architecture is designing the project.
Named Domus Ambrosia, the affordable housing will offer 90 apartments designed as a mix of studios and two-bedroom apartments. The project will also bring surface parking for 14 vehicles. A staff report notify that the units will be permanent supportive housing options, priced for households earning up to 50 percent of the area’s median income level.
Domus Ambrosia will also include a street-fronting courtyard along Hoover Street and a larger interior courtyard for use by residents along the western side of the property.
The project was previously part of the portfolio of Skid Row Housing Trust. The project site is a vacant lot on the west side of Hoover Street, located just north of Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles. The estimated construction completion date and market availability have not been revealed yet.
