A new small-scale affordable housing project is under construction taking shape and form at 8100 South Figueroa Street in Vermont Knolls, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a three-story building offering 30 apartments as affordable units. The project replaced a parking lot on the site.
Baback Omrani is listed as the project applicant. Metropolis Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The scope of work includes the development of a new three-story building offering 30 apartments. The affordable units will be available as one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans. No on-site parking has been proposed at this time.
The project was designed in accordance with the Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which permit larger structures than allowed by zoning rules when a project includes affordable housing and is located near transit. The exact income level to be served by the apartments is not specified in the building permit.
Renderings revealed a modern facade expressed in a stucco-clad exterior. The project is an infill affordable housing development, located just west of the Harbor Freeway.
