A new mixed-use project is under construction taking shape and form at 549 South Harvard Boulevard in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a new sevens-story building offering spaces for 150 apartments and retail uses. The project replaced a post office on the site.
Jamison Services Inc is the project developer. Next Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The scope of work includes the development of a new seven-story building offering 150 apartments over retail space on the ground floor. The project will feature studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans along with 12,900 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Additionally, a two-level, 192-car underground parking garage is proposed.
Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which permit a larger, denser development than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 15 of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent as deed-restricted affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.
Renderings reveal a modern podium-type building with a facade designed in cement plaster with metal accents. Upon completion, the complex will feature a U-shaped footprint above its second floor, wrapping an elevated courtyard.
The estimated completion date and market availability have not been revealed yet. The project site is located at the intersection of 6th Street and Harvard Boulevard.
