Construction is complete on Joshua Tree Hall and Hibiscus Hall at Cal State Northridge, located at 17950 Lassen Street at the northeast corner of campus at Lassen Street and Zelzah Avenue in University Park. The two buildings rise four stories and together provide 198 student beds in double-occupancy rooms. Move-in is scheduled for Fall 2025.
CW Driver Companies is the project developer. AC Martin is the architect of record for the new residence halls.
A $56 million contract value is listed for the project. CSUN lists a total project budget of approximately $72.9 million, supported in part by a $37.5 million award from the California Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program.
Residential floors are all doubles, with a study room, living room, and laundry on each floor, while ground-level spaces include a community kitchen, study spaces, multipurpose rooms, a lounge, gender-inclusive restrooms, and a package center in Building 23. A central courtyard shaded by photovoltaic pergolas provides outdoor gathering areas while generating power for the complex.
CSUN identifies Joshua Tree Hall and Hibiscus Hall as the first approved affordable student-housing development in the CSU system.
The halls stand at the Lassen & Zelzah corner within University Park on the campus’s northeast side.
