A new residential project has been proposed for development at 7914 Broadway Avenue in West Whittier. The project proposal includes the construction of 60 new apartments. The project will replace a single-family residence on the site.
Marisela Garcia of Torrance is listed as the project applicant.
The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 0.85 acres. The site is comprised of two parcels; one that houses a single-family dwelling, and the second that is an adjacent vacant lot. The scope of work includes the construction of a new five-story apartment building offering 60 residential units.
The project requires a zone change to accommodate multifamily housing and is adding density bonus incentives on top of that to permit an even larger building. In exchange, seven apartments are required to be set aside for rent as deed-restricted affordable housing.
The project site is located north of Washington Boulevard in the unincorporated community of West Whittier-Los Nietos. Talks about expanding the E line around the project site have been floating around. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
