A new affordable housing project has recently opened at 849 North La Brea Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a five-story building offering housing units at affordable rates. The project replaced an auto repair garage on the site.
EAH Housing is the project developer. FSY Architects is responsible for the designs.
An inauguration ceremony was held last week, celebrating a five-story building offering 50 residential units at affordable rates. The project site spans an area of 11,260 square feet. Named The Pointe on La Brea, all apartments are designed as studios. The community will offer 25 units reserved for residents facing chronic homelessness.
Renderings reveal a contemporary podium-style building. The building exterior features a large mural on its northern face featuring a depiction of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Onsite amenities include a community room, case management offices, a community kitchen, a public courtyard, and a rooftop deck.
The project received funding in the form of a $9 million capital loan from Los Angeles County, including $5.2 million in No Place Like Home Program funds, $2 million in Measure H funds, $740,000 in county general funds, and $1 million in Mental Health Housing Program funds.
