A new residential project is all set to break ground at 22501 Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance. The project proposal includes the construction of a new five-story mixed-use building offering spaces for residential units, commercial spaces, and onsite parking. The mixed-use will be developed on the former site of Gable House Bowl.
Intracorp Homes is the project developer. VTBS Architects is responsible for the designs.
The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 3.8 acres. Named Gable House Apartments, the mixed-use residential project will offer 218 apartments and ground-floor retail space. The apartments will be designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans, including 17 affordable units. The ground-floor commercial space will span 12,000 square feet. A 460-car garage is also proposed on the site.
The design for the five-story mixed-use draws inspiration from the post-modern gables of the former bowling alley. Onsite amenities include a fitness center, a swimming pool, co-working space, and other outdoor decks.
The project finally secured a construction loan after facing some hurdles initially. The apartments are expected to be ready for move-in by Summer 2026.
