Plans approved by the City of Carson call for the development of a compact mid-rise residential building at 438 West Carson Street. The project occupies an infill site previously used for surface parking and vacant space, introducing new housing within an established commercial corridor.

The approved design consists of a four-story structure containing 51 residential units arranged within a single building footprint. Unit layouts include one- and two-bedroom residences, organized above a ground-level base that accommodates building access and support functions. Five of the homes are subject to affordability restrictions as a condition of the project’s approval.

The building’s massing is shaped by adjacent development, resulting in an L-shaped configuration that wraps around a neighboring bank property. This arrangement allows the residential structure to maximize its buildable area while maintaining clear separation from the adjoining parcel.

Vehicle parking is consolidated toward the rear of the site, reducing its presence along Carson Street and allowing the primary frontage to be defined by the building itself rather than driveway access. Interior amenities are distributed within the structure and include shared indoor space and a rooftop-level outdoor area set above the residential floors.

With Planning Commission approval secured, the four-story building at 438 West Carson Street represents a contained residential typology that introduces new housing through infill development rather than large-scale site assembly.
