A small-scale mixed-use building is under construction at 2729 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica. The project proposal includes the development of a building offering residential and commercial space. Plans call for the redevelopment of two vacant commercial buildings on the site.
Real estate development firm The Megdal Companies is the project owner and applicant. DFH Architects is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
The project will bring a two-story building offering residential units including nine studios, and one low-income unit. Retail space measuring an area of 2,495 square feet will be designed on the ground floor. A subterranean parking garage with a capacity of 18 vehicles will be developed on the site.
The small-scale low-rise structure will showcase a facade designed in charred cedar siding and stucco. A conceptual rendering depicts the finished product with an undulated pitched roof and an outdoor deck overlooking Wilshire Boulevard. HSBC is the property’s retail tenant.
The project was approved in 2019, and the estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet. The property site is located at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Harvard Boulevard.
