A project application has been submitted, proposing the development of a new affordable housing project at 5407 South Western Avenue in Chesterfield Square, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a four-story building offering affordable units.
Abode Communities is the project developer.
The project site is a vacant parcel spanning an area of 0.63 acres. Named The Carlton, the scope of work includes the construction of a four-story building offering 60 units at affordable rates. The apartments will be categorized as income-restricted affordable housing and permanent supportive housing. The building will house 59 apartments affordable units and one manager’s unit. This enables the project for streamlined entitlements through the Mayor’s Executive Directive 1.
Units will be designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans. The building height will rise to 50 feet. The community will also offer at-grade parking for 20 vehicles. Common areas will offer services like onsite property management offices, community rooms, common laundry rooms, and landscaped courtyards.
The project site is situated at the southwest corner of 54th and Western Avenues. A project application has been submitted to the Department of City Planning. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
