Construction is well underway at 215 West 14th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. MVE is the architectural firm behind the cascading, glass and concrete design. It has been entitled, “Emerald,” staying on theme with the client, Jade Enterprises, a real estate investment firm.
The 92-foot structure will contain 154 apartments. Plans for the seven story mixed-use building include six stories of residential use on top of 13,000 square feet of retail space, office space, and vehicular parking extending into two basement levels. Short and long term bicycle parking will also be included, as well as a landscaped pool on the third floor.
The ‘L’ shaped development will replace a surface parking lot bordered by South Olive Street, West 14th Street, and South Hill Street. A medical center, fire station, and child care center are close by, as well as a few restaurants, and a small market that is directly across the street.
Shangri La Construction is the general contractor for the project, which has nearly reached the full height. The cost for completion is expected to be $30 million, with opening expected by the end of 2021.
