Los Angeles City Planning Commission is reviewing a new residential development at 2225 Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a seven-story multi-family residential building with on-site parking and the demolition of the existing buildings.
Cypress Equities Investments (CEI) is the project developer. Ottinger Architects is managing the design concept and construction.
Named Echo Park Project, the project site is a 1.14-acre lot partially developed with a mix of commercial and residential buildings. The total area of the new development is 153,781-square feet. 176 residential units are proposed, eighteen of which will be designated for low-income households. The units will be offered as a mix of one, two, three, four, and five-bedroom apartments. 19,427 square feet of open space, 203 vehicular parking spaces, and 125 bicycle parking spaces are also proposed. Other on-site amenities are inclusive of a gym, a courtyard, and a rooftop deck.
The building facade will rise to a height of eighty feet. The architecture style in this contemporary low-rise structure is expressed using corrugated metal panels and wood sidings. The building is wrapped by a continuous band of balconies. The site presently has 27 non-protected trees, which the developer has proposed to preserve.
The project completion is anticipated within twenty-eight months of construction initiation. The property is located near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Alvarado Street in Echo Park and is surrounded by other residential complexes.
