Construction has started at 4314 and 4347 West Adams Boulevard in Mid City, Los Angeles. Entitled “Adams Terrace,” nonprofit Abode Communities are developing the previously empty lots on two separate but close, city-owned plots. The project aims to fill a community need for low-income housing, and very low-income housing, for seniors and formerly homeless and at-risk homeless seniors.

When completed, the building at 4347 West Adams will be four stories high, with dimensions of 49 feet tall, 150 feet long, and 141 feet wide. It will have 36,788 square feet of floor. Inside, there will be 48 units of affordable senior housing with a manager’s unit. There will be at least 40 long-term and four short-term bicycle parking spaces and 11 compact, two disabled, 18 standard car parking spaces. The permit valuation for this building is $5.2 million.

The second building at 4314 West Adams will also be four stories high. It will be 51 feet tall, 142 feet long, and 131 feet wide. It will have a total floor area of 35,690 square feet. The inside will have 38 affordable units, as well as a mangers unit. There will be 38 long-term and four short-term bicycle parking spaces and one disabled, 14 standards, and seven compact car parking spaces. There will also be common areas. The permit valuation for this building is $5 million.

Walton Construction is working on the sites, which will have sharp angles, clean lines, and storefront facades when completed. The designs include balconies and large terraces with outdoor gathering space. The locations are also close to the Expo Crenshaw light rail station. They are expected to complete construction in Summer 2022.
