The non-profit organization, Wellnest, has successfully established supportive housing at 410-432 East Florence Avenue in South Los Angeles. The project site can be seen with vertical development, which formerly housed an auto repair garage. The project proposal includes a five-story building with an amenity deck.
Architect Edwin Mohabir is managing the design concepts and construction. The project is sponsored by Measure HHH.
Named The Nest, the structure will occupy an area of 41,000 square feet. The housing complex will include fifty studios with one manager’s two-bedroom unit. One-bedroom apartments will be reserved for transition-age youth. The structure will also include an amenity deck on the second floor. The architecture is expressed as a contemporary podium-style structure.
The project is anticipated to near completion within eighteen months from the time of breaking ground.
The property site is located one block toward the east of the intersection of Florence and San Pedro Street. Another 31-unit affordable housing project is under construction nearby.
