Plans to develop a large-scale apartment complex have been proposed at the northwest corner of 88th Street and Broadway in South Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of an apartment complex on an empty parcel.
Non-profit Neighborhood Housing Services is the project developer. John V. Mutlow Architects is responsible for the design concepts.
Named Manchester Urban Homes, the project will rise from a parcel spanning an area of 2.7 acres. The proposed project will bring a total of 122 residential units as a mix of 76 apartments facing Broadway Street, 46 townhomes on land at the rear site, and two manager’s units. Renderings reveal a four-story structure facing Broadway and a series of townhomes located in eight two-story buildings to the west.
The developer recently secured entitlements using Transit Oriented Communities development incentives to permit a larger structure than allowed by local zoning rules. The organization’s proposed project includes a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, all of which will be set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing.
