An affordable housing project has been proposed at 901-941 East Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. The project proposal includes the development of affordable housing for seniors, replacing a collection of small commercial buildings. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved the release of up to $24.3M in bond funding for the construction of the mixed-use project.
Mercy Housing of California is the project sponsor. Studio One Eleven is responsible for the design concepts.
The project proposes to bring 67 apartments to a four-story building. Commercial space spanning an area of 4,000 square feet will be designed on the ground floor. Parking space with a capacity of 38 vehicles will be designed on the site. Onsite amenities include a podium-level courtyard, a community room, and a common laundry facility.
Renderings reveal a blend of contemporary architecture with elements of the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne styles. The building exterior will be clad in smooth stucco, fiber cement siding, and metal.
The proposed development will rise at the northwest corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway.
