New renderings have been released for 151 South Olive Street, in Downtown Los Angeles. The long anticipated project will realize the vision of legendary architect Frank Gehry, who also designed the Disney Concert Hall, across the street. Residents are expected to start moving in in early 2022, according to a website dedicated to the site by developer Related Companies.

The residential tower has been given the name “The Grand by Gehry.” It will reach 45 stories tall. 436 luxury residential apartments will be inside, including 113 ultra-premium residences on the tower’s uppermost floors. Layouts will include studios, one-, two-, and three-bedrooms crowned by a penthouse collection.

Residents will benefit from both indoor and outdoor amenities. They will include in-home services, exclusive local access, and on-site programming. Rockwell Group is behind the design of the amenities and public spaces. The residential interiors are by Ingrao, Inc.

The project aims to be the cultural epicenter of Los Angeles. The Grand LA’s 164,000 square feet of retail space will include chef-driven restaurants, shops, entertainment, and the 28-story Conrad Hotels & Resorts Los Angeles. Nearby arts and cultural institutions include The Music Center, The Broad Museum, MOCA | The Museum of Contemporary Art, and The Colburn School of Music.

  1. Ghery let Related push him around it looks like on this one. Disappointing. If you hire Ghery you want a Ghery building. New York tower was far more impressive. (coming from a developer/builder)
