1717 North Wilcox Avenue has topped out, in Hollywood. The project is by Adolfo Suaya of Suaya Properties. Suaya is a TV host, restaurant, bar and hotel owner behind a few local establishments including Gaucho Grill, Dolce, the Lodge and Osaka.
The Wilcox development has been titled “The Whiskey Hotel.” The whiskey theme will be incorporated into the design of the rooms, which include minibars with whiskey. There will be 133 rooms in total. Other “Whiskey” elements will be a whiskey fountain in the lobby, and complementary whiskey to guests. The site aims to host whiskey-themed events, including cocktail classes and tastings.
The design is seven stories tall, with 62,200 square feet of floor. It will reach 89 feet at the highest point. Rooms are expected to cost $200 to $300, with some events being open to the public. There will be 103 parking spaces within one at-grade and two subterranean parking levels.
Roschen Van Cleve Architects and Christoph Kapeller of CK Architecture are behind the design. They included 3,600 square feet of restaurant use, divided between the ground floor and the rooftop. The project received $35 million in financing. It is expected to open in summer 2022.
