A new residential project is under construction at 14202 Friar Street in Van Nuys, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of 33 apartments, replacing a surface parking lot on the site.
JB Builders is the project developer. GA Engineering is the architect.
The project will construct a new five-story building, featuring 33 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments atop automobile parking for 16 vehicles. Requested entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives permitting a larger, denser development than otherwise allowed by zoning regulations. In exchange, four of the new apartments will be set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing for rent at the extremely low-income level.
Renderings reveal a contemporary podium-type building. The project site sits west of the Van Nuys Civic Center. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
