A new supportive housing complex has finished construction at 2444 S Barry Avenue in Sawtelle. The project proposal includes the development of a six-story supportive housing apartment complex featuring affordable units and onsite amenities.

San Diego-based Affirmed Housing Group is the project developer. BSB Design is the architect responsible for the designs.

Named Iris, the supportive housing is a six-story building which will feature 61 one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. The apartments will be marketed as both permanent supportive housing and traditional low-income units.

Renderings reveal a contemporary podium-type building with a U-shaped footprint wrapping a central courtyard. Plans also call for a rooftop deck, as well as an exterior of stucco and metal panels.

The new apartments will be reserved for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area’s median income. Monthly rents would be set between $621 for studio units and $1,840 per month for larger three-bedroom dwellings.

Funding for the $38.3-million project includes an allocation from Measure HHH and tax-exempt bonds, among other sources.

The project site is located just north of the I-10 Freeway. Ten months after breaking ground the housing complex is all set to open in 2024.

  1. Great project! This part of LA needs affordable housing. Bus service every 15-minutes all day on the Big Blue Bus Route 7 one block away.

  2. Please advise as to when and where to submit an application. This sounds like the apartment I am looking for. Thank you in advance for your help. Also do you have any new projects in the San Pedro/ Torrance areas.
