A new residential project is under construction at 1669 South Highland Avenue in Mid-City, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of new duplex houses. Plans call for two small residential buildings dating to the early 1940s to be demolished for the new duplexes to be constructed.
Development House is the project developer. Yu2e Inc is responsible for the designs.
Small residential buildings on the project site have made way for a larger multifamily residential development. The project site spans an area of 6,250 square feet. Named The Highland, the project is under construction to bring two duplexes on a single lot with an attached recreation room. Additionally, two Accessory Dwelling Units will be added to the property at a later date. A 1,057-square-foot recreation room is to later be converted into two accessory dwelling units, each of which will feature one bedroom and one bathroom.
Renderings reveal a contemporary design with a colorful two-story façade with pitched rooflines. The residences are designed with two-bedrooms, two-bathrooms ranging from 1,000 to 1,043 square feet in size.
The project site is located one block south of Venice Boulevard in Mid-City. Completion is expected in March 2024.
