A new affordable housing project has been pitched for development at 1305 North Cherokee Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a new five-story building offering apartments at affordable rates.
Uncommon, a Chatsworth-based development firm is the project owners. JZA Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The project will showcase a Spanish Revival-style façade juxtaposed with contemporary elements. The project site is a vacant lot at the northwest corner of the intersection of Fountain and Cherokee Avenues. Plans call for the redevelopment of the empty parcel to house a five-story residential building offering 53 apartments for rent at affordable rates. Proposed entitlements intend to utilize the procedures created through the Mayor’s Executive Directive 1, as well as density bonus incentives. The site was previously slated for a smaller four-story, 18-unit apartment complex.
The building will showcase stained wood trim and large windows that permit natural light and ground floor planters. The land sold for a combined sum up just over $1.95 million through two separate transactions in 2017, according to city records. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
