A new affordable housing project has been proposed for development a 121 North Mathews Street in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a new four-story building that will offer affordable housing units.
Tommy Beadel, a co-founder and executive with Thomas James Homes is listed as the project applicant. Ken Stockton Architects is designing the building.
At the project site, a century-old duplex is up for redevelopment with affordable housing through the Mayor’s Executive Directive 1. Named 40 Mathews, plans call for the construction of a new four-story building featuring 40 apartments available for rent at affordable prices. The units will be designed as a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments without on-site parking. According to plans included with the case filing, the project would cater to households at the low-income and moderate-income levels.
The project was submitted to the Planning Department for review in late September. Renderings reveal a contemporary low-rise structure clad in stucco and horizontal siding. The project site is located northeast of the E Line’s Soto Station. The estimated construction time and market availability have not been announced yet.
