A new supportive housing project has reached completion at 5501 South Main Street in South Park, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a five-story building offering residential units and onsite support services. The project replaced am auto repair shop on the site.

Gardena-based Highridge Costa Development is the project developer. Egan Simon Architecture is responsible for the designs.

A year-and-a-half into construction, the five-story facade of a new permanent supportive housing complex is ready. The scope of work includes the construction of 57 residential units; 56 supportive housing units and one manager’s apartment.

Project approvals include density bonus incentives permitting allowing for a larger structure than would normally be permitted by zoning rules. The apartments are to be set aside for households earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area’s median income level, making them eligible for the bonuses.

Renderings reveal a contemporary designs for the building. The supportive housing complex features a courtyard fronting 55th Street to the north and terrace decks on its upper floors.

The project site is located toward the southwest corner of 55 Street and Main Street.
