A new residential project is under construction taking shape and form at 1457 North Main Street in Chinatown, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a six-story building offering 300+ modular units, onsite amenities, commercial space, and parking. The project replaced a food processing facility on the site.

New York-based Thrive Living is the project developer.

Rebar cages are rising above street level at the future site of a modular apartment complex. The scope of work includes the construction of a six-story building featuring 376 apartments. The apartments will be constructed as modular units featuring studio and one-bedroom floor plans. The six-story will also feature 6,448 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Plans also call a 104-car garage.

The contemporary low-rise structure will feature a rooftop deck and street-level courtyards, as well as a gym, a recreation room, and a business center.

Project approvals require Thrive Living to set aside 42 apartments for rent as extremely low-income affordable housing. In addition, the developer intends to target the remaining unrestricted units to moderate-income renters earning up to 80 percent of the area’s median income level. The property will also accept applicants with Housing Choice Vouchers.

The project site is located toward east of Los Angeles State Historic Park in Chinatown.
