A new affordable housing project has been proposed for development at 6901 Woodman Avenue in Van Nuys, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the development of a new five-story building offering 55 dwelling units available for rent as affordable housing. Once approved, the project will replace four existing homes on the site.
Schlomo Schmuel of 901 Woodman Ave., LLC is listed as the project applicant. Malekian & Associates is responsible for the designs.
Earlier last week, a project application was submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department.
The scope of work calls for the construction of a new five-story building offering 55 affordable housing units. The units will be designed as a mix of studios and one-bedroom floor plans. No on-site parking has been proposed at this time.
Except for one manager’s unit, all apartments will be set aside for rent by low-income and moderate-income households. This makes the project eligible for density bonus incentives permitting a larger structure than zoning rules would otherwise allow.
The affable housing project will be developed utilizing Mayor’s Executive Directive 1. The estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet.
