A new mixed-use apartment complex has been completed at 988 South Manhattan Place in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Developed by Jamison Services and designed by MVE + Partners, the project adds new housing and retail space near the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Western Avenue.

Known as The Somi Apartments, the seven-story building brings 118 residential units to the neighborhood, ranging from studios to three-bedroom floor plans. On the ground floor, approximately 6,200 square feet of retail space will provide a new commercial offering for residents and the surrounding community. A total of 77 parking spaces are included on-site.

The development makes use of Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) incentives, allowing for greater height and density than zoning would typically permit. In return, Jamison Services has reserved 12 apartments for extremely low-income households.

Architecturally, the building features a podium-style design. Above the second level, the residential floors form a U-shaped footprint, framing a landscaped courtyard deck at the center of the structure. A rooftop amenity deck crowns the building, providing shared outdoor space for residents.

Jamison Services acquired the property in 2020 for $11.5 million, and the completed project adds to the firm’s growing portfolio of infill developments in Koreatown.
