A new mixed-use complex has been completed at 6300 West 3rd Street in Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles. The development spans the full block bounded by West 3rd Street to the north, South Fairfax Avenue to the west, and South Ogden Drive to the east.
Developed by Holland Partner Group and designed by MVE + Partners, the project replaces a portion of the former Town & Country shopping center. The new eight-story structure rises to a height of 83 feet and features 311 residential units situated above ground-floor commercial space and a multi-level parking podium.
The building’s residential component includes a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. Units are arranged around two interior courtyards, while amenity areas include landscaped decks, shared gathering spaces, and a rooftop pool.
The development incorporates approximately 84,000 square feet of commercial space at street level. A new Whole Foods Market anchors the retail portion, fronting 3rd Street with a transparent glass façade and corner plaza that enhances pedestrian activity at the intersection.
Parking for residents and shoppers is provided via three levels of podium parking and two subterranean levels, with dedicated bike parking areas and separate access ramps for residential and retail use.
Architecturally, the building features contemporary massing with articulated setbacks, projecting balconies, and varied façade treatments to break up the scale along both 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue. Retail façades use expansive glazing and signage bands, while residential portions are clad in a mix of materials that reference the area’s mid-rise urban character.
The project is situated across from the Original Farmers Market and The Grove, near the busy intersection of West 3rd Street and South Fairfax Avenue.
