A new income-restricted housing development at 3455 Slauson Avenue in Hyde Park is advancing through a streamlined approval pathway utilizing Executive Directive 1 in combination with state density bonus incentives. The six-story project, proposed by RMG Housing, is designed to deliver 75 apartments reserved for low- and moderate-income households.
City approval documents indicate that all units within the building will be income-restricted. The entitlement strategy combines local density bonus provisions with mayoral streamlining measures intended to expedite affordable housing production. Parking for 10 vehicles is included within the development.
Architectural plans prepared by EDDG, Inc. depict a contemporary podium-style structure rising six stories above a ground-level base. The massing presents a curved vertical element along one corner, framed by smooth wall planes and inset window openings. Ground-floor glazing lines portions of the street frontage, while upper levels are articulated through recessed fenestration and material variation.
The project site is situated in Hyde Park along Slauson Avenue, within walking distance of the K Line corridor. Immediately west of the property, a separate five-story mixed-use building containing 63 apartments and ground-floor retail space is currently under construction, indicating continued multifamily development activity along the corridor.
RMG Housing has previously completed multiple affordable housing developments throughout Los Angeles, including projects located on land owned by faith-based institutions. If completed as proposed, the Slauson Avenue development would add 75 deed-restricted units to the neighborhood under the City’s expedited housing policies.
