A new affordable housing project is under construction at 7220 Main Avenue in Florence-Firestone, Los Angeles. The project proposal includes the construction of a new seven-story building offering residential units at affordable rates, on site amenities, and parking.
Meta Housing Corp is the project developer.
Named The Metro @ Florence Apartments, the project brings 169 apartment units into a seven-story building. The units will be designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans. The units will be reserved for individuals and households earning between 30 – 60 percent of the area’s median income. Out of the total, 72 units will be set aside as permanent supportive housing.
In addition to housing, seven-story building will also feature 12,300 square feet of open space for residents, 3,100 square feet of ground-floor retail space, 2,100 square feet of community and office space, and parking for 120 vehicles. An outdoor courtyard and a rooftop deck will also be designed as a part of the project.
The project received funding from various sources, totaling $51 million in bonds and money approved by Los Angeles County. Additionally, the California Strategic Growth Council awarded $30.8 million for the project last year through the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program, which will go toward the cost of on-site supportive services, laundry facilities, outdoor recreation areas, and the purchase of nine zero emission buses.
The project site is located next to A Line. The estimated market availability has been revealed yet.
